Our Story
The Newell Family
Our family legacy began in 1868 when Ambrous and Fannie Newell united in marriage, settling first in Green Pond, Alabama, and later in Jefferson County. Together, they raised twelve children who became the foundation of our growing family tree, creating branches that now span generations across the country.
For 65 years, we've gathered to celebrate the bonds that Ambrous and Fannie established, honoring their legacy while creating new memories with each reunion.
Today, we, as descendants, continue to grow and thrive, carrying forward the values of family, love, and connection that started more than 150 years ago.
Celebrating Our 65th Milestone
This year marked an incredible milestone as we celebrated 65 years of Newell family gatherings! Our 2025 reunion brought together four generations of family members who traveled from across the country to reconnect, share stories, and create new memories.
From toddlers taking their first reunion photos to our beloved Hall of Famers sharing decades of family wisdom, every moment reminded us why these gatherings are so precious.
The weekend was filled with new and traditional games, delicious food, heartfelt tributes, and countless hugs. As we look ahead to Cleveland, we carry with us the joy and connections that made our 65th reunion truly unforgettable.
